About

Ashley Van De Velde is a student at the University of Oklahoma majoring in Broadcast Journalism and minoring in Spanish and Sports Business. She will graduate in May 2023.

Van De Velde was an intern with FOX Sports from February through August 2022, working with their digital media team.

​

She currently serves as an on-air talent, interviewing athletes on Sooner Sports Pad and talking OU sports every week on ESPN+.

​

Van De Velde also works as a production assistant at SoonerVision, serving as the assistant producer of Sooner Sports Spotlight and creating, editing and producing content for OU athletic teams. At SoonerVision, she also shot practices and games and worked live sporting events and studio shows to air on ESPN+.

​

Van De Velde regularly works with FOX Sports and ESPN as a runner. Her experience includes working alongside Holly Rowe and capturing social media content for the historic Nebraska-OU football game for FOX Sports' social media.

​

Within the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication, she served as OU Nightly's Senior Sports Producer, a live reporter and reported from OU football games and other sporting events.

​

She was the 2022 Panhellenic Vice President of Public Affairs, managing the image of one of the largest sorority organizations in the country, at OU. Van De Velde successfully conducted a social media marketing campaign to increase enrollment for 2022 formal recruitment that resulted in the highest number of enrollees for formal recruitment to date.

​

As a person, Van De Velde cares deeply about others and knows this characteristic will aid her in her professional life. She has a passion for telling others' stories. Growing up, she lived in five states, from Wisconsin to Louisiana, quickly gaining a greater sense of the world and people.

​

She also grew up on college campuses and inside sports arenas, as her father worked in college athletics administration her whole life.  Due to her insider knowledge, she believes she carries a different perspective and knowledge about sports, specifically intercollegiate athletics.
